System Center operations Manager logo http://www.Oostdam.infoSystem Center Operations Manager 2007 R2 is a great product. It has some difficulties, but doesn't have all products have a problem here and there? Now this article has been made here, for several reasons. First of all, I collected all these errors, installs, hits, tips and warnings for my own personal reference. But, it is always better to share knowledge, so I decided to publish these articles, with a little extra explanation on this site, through these articles. So, I hope this article will help you with your problem as well. Now, this article is about a warning when the System Center Operations Managers HeatlthService fails to start after, or during an installation, repair or agent update. Read the article below for more detailed information.

How to resolve the SCOM warning 25362:

Every SCOM administrator will see this warning from time to time. It occurs during an installion of an agent on a server, or at the end of it. It can also occur on manual client installation when a wrong cumulative update has been applied.
SCOM Warning 25362 www.oostdam.infoThe message is rather clear, the most important service, the HealthServiice is not able to start after install. This can happen occur a new installation, a cumulative update, or repair of the agent. I collected some examples which you can see in the pictures here.

Not always, but most of the times,
an event 7024 will be logged with the following content.

Event Type: Error
Error 25362 SCOM www.oostdam.info picture2 article 277Event Source: Service Control Manager
Event Category: None
Event ID: 7024
Description: The OpsMgr Health Service service terminated with service-specific error 3 (0x3). For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp

You can check your system log for additional events as well. If you google this, among other articles, you will find a great post of J.C. Hornbeck on Technet, with a lot of details, explaining all about the ETL tracing and logging, registersettings and ways to repair them. I have done that once, and found it a lot of work. Sure, nice to find out exactly whats going on, but time is money and when this warning or error occurs, I'm not going to debug it anymore. I just uninstall the agent (remotly) and install it again. This fixes everything and it turns out to be much quicker in the end.

Hope that this article will have helped you a bit further............

Have fun, using System Center Operation Manager 2007 R2 !
